Handwritten letter from Grace Kelly to Alfred Hitchcock.
Alfred Hitchcock wanted Grace Kelly to make her screen comeback in Marnie (1964), playing the title role, but the people of Monaco were not happy with the idea of their princess playing a compulsive thief, so she had to refuse.
I hate disappointing you - I also hate the fact that there are probably many other “cattle” who could play the part equally as well - despite that I hope to remain one of your “sacred cows”.
